The Goulburn Murray Local Learning & Employment Network [or GMLLEN] is an independent not-for-profit community based organisation designed to work across all government, business and community sectors to improve the education and employment outcomes for people in the 10-19 age group.
We work closely with DEECD (Department of Education and Early Childhood Development) Regional Office, GOTAFE (Goulburn Ovens TAFE) and ACE (Adult & Community Education) to facilitate plans and systems that support collective strengthening and enhanced capacity of post compulsory programs and networks in the Goulburn Murray area.
We work with key stakeholders to facilitate plans for post compulsory provision that include system innovations based upon restructuring, specialisation, hub networks and service, virtual college, partnerships and purchase options and aim to maximise local impact by engaging and collaborating with relevant Commonwealth Government policies and agencies.
The LLEN model replicates international best practice models. That is, cross sectoral networks or partnerships responsible for local decision-making, local solutions and local funding. England, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Austria and France have initiated various models of partnership to address educational, social and economic disadvantage.
A conservative estimate is that in one year the GMLLEN interacts in significant ways with 6000 people, in forums, meetings, and networks..
Approximately 180 groups or organisations engage with the GMLLEN in planning the development of both small and large education and training programs annually.
Our focus is on those groups most at risk in the community,
- Koorie
- Migrant and Refugees
- Homeless young people and 'at risk' of homelessness
