The Goulburn Murray Local Learning and Employment Network's (GMLLEN) core role is to develop relationships and partnerships between local education providers, industry and community to improve outcomes for young people".
Goulburn Murray LLEN will ensure that all young people in the Goulburn Murray area have the opportunity to participate in education, training and employment options availiable to them.
The Goulburn Murray LLEN is one of 31 LLEN's across Victoria, that aims to facilitate innovative education and training delivery, that links more young people aged 10-19 to local and regional employment and enterprise opportunities. These LLENs were established by the Victorian Government in 2001.
Here at the GMLLEN, we know that continued participation of young people in learning is crucial if Australia is to overcome the trade, technical and professional skill shortages we appear to be facing. Continued participation is also regarded as one of the most effectve strategies to ensure against future unemployment.
The Goulburn Murray Local Learning and Employment Network works in the context of Government policy that has the specific objectives of:
- Ensuring 90 per cent of young people in Victoria successfully complete Year 12 or its equivalent by 2010
- Ensuring the percentage of young people 15-19 in rural and regional Victoria engaged in education and training rises by 6 percent by 2005
- The Goulburn Murray Local Learning & Employment Network [or GMLLEN] is an independent not-for-profit community based organisation designed to work across all government, business and community sectors to improve the education and employment outcomes for people in the 10-19 age group.
