Youth Connections
Previoulsy, under the DEEWR Careers Advice Australia (CAA) banner there were four (4) programmes:
- Connections Program
- Youth Pathways Programme (YPP)
- Youth Linx
- Mentro Marketplace
Now all of the above programs have formed a new programme called Youth Connections.
The Youth Connections program is designed to provide an improved safety net for young people at risk. It provides case management and support for ‘at risk’ young people to remain engaged in, or reconnect with education and training. There are 4 types of service delivery:
Type One Service Delivery: assisting young people at most risk of disengaging. In Victoria, 5 per cent of the funding allocation for Youth Connections is directed towards Type One services.
Type Two Service Delivery: assisting young people who are disengaging or who are severely disengaged. In Victoria, 70 per cent of the funding allocation is directed towards Type Two services.
Type Three Service Delivery: re-engagement and outreach activities. In Victoria, 15 per cent of the funding allocation is directed towards Type Three services.
Type Four Service Delivery: strengthening services in a region. In Victoria, 10 per cent of the funding allocation is directed towards Type Four services.
Under the Youth Connections Type Three Service Delivery: re-engagement and outreach activities, Youth Connections providers may decide to establish mentoring programs to support some of the young people if no appropriate mentoring programs are available. Youth Connections providers should work with the LLENs to establish these programs.
Youth Connections in the Goulburn Murray Region is an amalgamation of three organisations Berry Street, The Bridge and Mission Australia, who work together to service the Greater Shepparton, Moira & Strathbogie Shires.
