Positive Pathways for Victoria’s Vulnerable Young People: A Policy Framework to Support Vulnerable Youth.
Today the Premier launched the Positive Pathways for Victoria’s Vulnerable Young People: A Policy Framework to Support Vulnerable Youth at the 2010 Think Innovation Summit. The Framework provides a strong platform to deliver integrated and coordinated support to our young people.
In particular, the Government will invest $11 million over three years to support the implementation of the Framework. This investment will start in 2010/11 and focus on building on the work of the Better Youth Services sites.
A central Secretariat will be established to develop and implement a state-wide common assessment and referral system, a common practice framework and data for local planning and monitoring.
The funding will also support seven demonstration sites to test the approaches to improved integration and coordination of services and identify what works and what more needs to be done.
I am pleased to inform you that the six Better Youth Services sites will become demonstration sites, with Ballarat and surrounding areas making up the seventh
site. This is in recognition of the valuable work that has already been done in these areas, with a view to building on that work.
The areas will be:
Greater Geelong, Queenscliff and Surf Coast
Yarra Ranges, Maroondah and Knox
Frankston and Mornington Peninsula
Swan Hill, Gannawarra, Buloke and Mildura
Greater Bendigo, Central Goldfields, Mount Alexander, Campaspe, Macedon Ranges and Loddon
Ballarat, Hepburn, Moorabool, Pyrenees and Golden Plains
Wyndham and Hobsons Bay
I look forward to continuing to work with you to shape a new and improved way of delivering support to our young people.
