Year 9 TRADE Taster Program 2018

The Goulburn Murray LLEN in partnership with the Better Together Alliance Schools, School Focused Youth Service and GOTAFE Shepparton developed a program targeted at Year 10 students who were at risk of disengaging from education.

The program aims to encourage students to stay engaged at School by sparking a career aspiration – through providing taster activities and pathway advice, preparing students for work experience and delivering the Construction Induction Card.

Students tried  a range of trades including, plumbing, electrical, automotive and building and construction; which included their Construction Induction card the requirement for students to be able to undertake work experience on a construction site. Students were also exposed to an industry tour of a Metricon Building site and Ken Muston Automotive workshop to learn about what a typical day in those trades would look like.
