Through a bespoke online digital platform that helps students align strengths and likes with career paths. GM VICE showcases 24 skill shortages across 6 key industries using 360 degree virtual reality technology, which enables young people to “step inside” local workplaces and hear from local professionals.
The platform will help inform students, teachers and families about where the real opportunities are and open up real career conversations.
Part funded by GMLLEN, DJPR and Bendigo Bank.
For teachers:
- Help students align strengths and likes with career paths
- Students are immersed in 'on-the-job' environments via VR
- Teachers receive Student Workbooks for each industry
- Sessions can be linked to the Vic Career Curriculum across Years 7 to 12
- If within the GMLLEN catchment, VR headsets can be brought to your school

Food & Fibre Gippsland Inc. is a not-for-profit and industry-led organisation which focuses on building capacity and innovation. With their members, industry partners and stakeholders at the core of everything they do, Food & Fibre Gippsland strives to understand and respond to the challenges and ideas across the region. In 2021, they commenced development of an extensive video series, telling the stories of real people in a diverse range of jobs across food and fibre industries and businesses throughout Gippsland.
“This is My Job” was created with the support of Jobs Victoria. The videos are helping to grow awareness of the exciting regional career opportunities on offer within this thriving sector.
